First, the African men’s and women’s championships will be held from July 25 to August 6 in Yaoundé, Cameroon.

Secondly, the total prize money for the medalists of the African Elite Men’s and Women’s Boxing Championships has now been doubled, from $500,000 last year in Maputo to $1,000,000 this year in Yaoundé.

In Maputo, the Prize Money for the gold medalists amounted to $10,000 for the gold medalists, $5,000 for the silver medalists and $2,500 for the two bronze medalists.

This year, in Yaoundé, the gold medalists will win $20,000, the silver $10,000 and $5,000 for the two bronze medalists.

Bertrand Mendouga said: “Our decision on the new dates for the African Championships is final and we are now ready to organize a spectacular tournament.”

Bertrand Mendouga said that Mr. Umar Kremlev, the President of the IBA, called on African countries to remain calm following the latest developments from the IOC regarding the status of the IBA.

“Umar Kremlev advised us to remain calm without being disturbed by the outcome of the IOC’s threat to deregister the international body,” President Mendouga said.
