To : AFBC National Federations
Subject : AFBC Extraordinary Congress postponed
Dear Presidents and Secretaries Generals,
The Board of Directors
For a while now, I have been bombarded by numerous calls from certain Federation Presidents regarding the holding or not of the Extraordinary Congress of the AFBC.
I would like to point out that the Congress is a body belonging to the AFBC, and as such, its holding is subject to a decision by the Board of Directors, which convenes it and fixes the place and date in accordance with article 18.1(a) of our constitution, which stipulates that: “An extraordinary meeting of the Congress may be convened by the Board of Directors on its own initiative at any time, if the Board of Directors deems such a meeting to be necessary or desirable”.
Consequently, the Board of Directors also has the power to postpone the date of the Congress when circumstances so require, and in this case the postponement is motivated by the difficulty most delegates have in obtaining visas and the uproar caused by the disputed publication of the list of definitively selected candidates.
The Board of Directors, meeting on September 30, 2023, therefore decided to postpone the Extraordinary Congress scheduled for October 13, 2023 in Durban, South Africa, to a date to be communicated to you in due course.
Yours sincerely,
André Basile KALONG
AFBC Secretary General
