It was song and dance as Africa Boxing Confederation (AFBC) President Eyassu Wossen Berhanu received a warm and colourful reception in his inaugural official visit to Arbaminch, Ethiopia, November 29, 2023.
Berhanu was welcomed by esteemed religious figures, government dignitaries, and the local populace. This momentous occasion featured a splendid showcase of indigenous cultural festivities that eloquently portrayed the region’s rich heritage.
The enthusiastic welcome resonated with the community’s sincere appreciation for their native leader.
President Berhanu’s visit also underscored his unwavering commitment to grassroots development, notably evidenced by his provision of essential training materials to boxers in Arbaminch.
This proactive initiative serves as a testament to the confederation’s steadfast dedication to nurturing progress and fostering growth across the African continent.
Grassroots boxing is very important in Berhanu’s agenda. Little wonder the development of junior and youth boxing is dear to his heart, and plans to stage the inaugural Junior Africa Boxing Championships next year in Addis Ababa.
