Namibia’s Tryagain Ndevelo is just a heartbeat away from clinching gold in the featherweight division in the Africa Boxing Championships in Kinshasa, DR Congo.
The Namibian southpaw outpointed Morocco’s bantamweight gold medalist at last year’s Africa Championships in Yaounde Imad Azoui to set up a final featherweight clash with Zambia’s African Games silver medallist Mwengo Mwale who beat Kenya’s Shaffi Bakari in the other semi-final.
“I fooled the Moroccan during warm-up I’m orthodox only for him to release I’m southpaw when the fight had started,” said Ndevelo in this ill-tempered bout which saw both boxers exchange punches briefly after the bell to end the third round.
