As of May 27, 2023, a record number of 26 countries have confirmed their participation in the 21st edition of the African Boxing Championships organized by the AFBC in Yaoundé from June 13 to 25, 2023.
The secretary general of the African Boxing Confederation (AFBC) André Basile Kalong said he was waiting for confirmation from 15 other countries. “If everything goes according to plan, it will be the best championships in Africa ever.”
Last year, the African championships held in Maputo, Mozambique brought together 179 boxers (58 women and 121 men) from 24 countries.
The AFBC has a total of 50 member countries affiliated to the African body.
