Comoros to host Zone 4 African Boxing Championships in 2024

Comoros will host next year’s Zone 4 boxing tournament, the Secretary-General of the Africa Boxing Confederation (AFBC) Andre Basile Kalong has announced.

He said during during their whirlwind tour of Comoros led by AFBC President Bertrand Mendouga, they held fruitful discussions with the President of Comoros federation Mohammed Abbou Mbechezi on boxing development.

Said Kalong: “They are very proud to host the Zone 4 Championships next year, and to us this is a positive move we support fully.

“The main purpose of our visit was to convince the government continue to support the federation more than before, we donated boxing gloves and visited various hotels, competition venues and academies.

In addition to Kalong and the AFBC boss Mendouga, they were accompanied by the President of Sierra Leone Boxing Association Solomon Kargbo who is also the AFBC Competitions Committee Chairperson. Kargbo was re-elected unopposed together with the secretary-general Alhaji Komba during their elections last year.

The 14-member countries of Zone 4 are Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
