Dubai: AFBC crisis talks fail, with no final decision, following last-minute absence of Mr. Eyassu Wossen Berhanu

Dear Presidents and General Secretaries,

The discussions that were ongoing in Dubai regarding the AFBC crisis have ended in failure, without any final decision, due to the last-minute absence of Mr. Eyassu Wossen Berhanu.

Initially, the session of the day was scheduled for 10:00 AM, but it was suddenly postponed to 4:00 PM. The Interim President’s delegation arrived at the meeting location (Marriott Hotel) at the scheduled time, but did not meet with the other party.

Around 7:30 PM, General Luyoyo’s delegation was forced to leave the venue due to the absence of the other party.

Subsequently, it was suggested to resume discussions later in the evening at the Swissotel.

Upon arriving at the Swissotel, the Interim President General Luyoyo’s delegation found only Mr. Siyabulela Mkwalo, who informed them that Mr. Eyassu had not had the time to attend and had appointed him to represent him.

The delegation of Interim President General Ferdinand Ilunga Luyoyo protested against this disrespectful attitude from Mr. Eyassu and decided not to engage with a representative, as the concerned individual had previously confirmed his presence.

As I mentioned in my previous communication, a resignation proposal was made by the Interim President regarding Mr. Eyassu Wossen Berhanu due to the various violations of the Constitution and regulations of the AFBC, the disorder, and the general mismanagement.

Given the failure of these discussions, it will be up to the IBA to take responsibility in accordance with the recommendations of the Constitution.

I therefore urge you to remain patient until the IBA, having acknowledged the failure of the talks, takes a position.
