On october 31, 2024, the Angola Boxing Federation stakeholders convened in a General Assembly, during which the following resolutions were duly adopted:
The Assembly unanimously approved the report and financial accounts presented by the Executive, under the leadership of President Carlos Luís Gonçalves.
With respect to the International Boxing Association (IBA) and World Boxing, the Assembly resolved to abstain from adopting an immediate stance. Consequently, the current status quo shall remain effective until the next General Assembly.
The Stakeholders, however, recommended that the executive body, to be elected on 30 December 2024, closely monitor the situation and conduct a comprehensive analysis, in order to take actions necessary to safeguard the interests of the Federation and the boxers.
It was further resolved that the next elections for the Angola Boxing Federation shall be conducted on 30 December 30, 2024.
To note the presence of Mr. Simão Anselmo Muanda, who is implicated in an election process previously annulled by the Civil Court of Luanda but allegedly endorsed by former AFBC President Eyassu Wossen, was noted to have engaged in actions deemed unacceptable by the Assembly. The Assembly identified this interference as a serious issue requiring prompt and decisive action to address it.
Mr. Simão Anselmo Muanda had specifically asked the to provide the Assembly with a detailed account of his unauthorized withdrawals from the Federation’s bank account. His actions were considered to constitute fraud and misappropriation of Federation funds, representing a grave offense.
